Hmm, another long absence...

... 5 months? I really didn't think it was *that* long ago I last posted, but obviously it was... must try harder...

So, lets try and catch up - I'll try and keep it brief, don't want you all falling asleep...

It's been an up and down few months during which we've had Christmas, I was advised against driving for a few weeks by the sleep technician at the hospital when I went for my annual checkup for my sleep apnoea, so that made for an interesting time over the festive period (not...) Instead of me leaving Southend and driving to Epping to collect my sister Jill, then driving us down to my Dads on Christmas Eve, then taking the 3 of us over to my other sister Penny's for Christmas Day, then driving Jill home on Boxing Day, I was resigned to the fact that I'd be spending Christmas at home by myself with just the cat for company...

...but Penny had other plans, and on Christmas Eve she drove from Whitstable to Epping, collected Jill, drove to Southend, collected me, deposited us both at Dads just outside Ashford, then collected us all on Christmas Day morning and took us back to her place for a lovely Christmas lunch - she and her husband Alastair did us proud!, took us home in the evening and then Boxing Day took me and Jill both home - I owe her a great deal of thanks for doing that for me - especially as it had been snowing heavily the week before and the roads/paths were still a bit tricky in places...

Dad came up trumps and bought us all amaryllis bulbs again, so The Great Amaryllis Race was on again this year... I think mine was hibernating, possibly sulking, because its now March and its still only about a foot high - whereas Jill and Angi (my brothers partner) 's ones have had their flowers long ago... still all good things come to those who wait!

Craftwise I came to a total standstill... I totally lost my mojo over the last few months and just couldn't get any enthusiasm for doing any crafting at all. I was trying to finish the last set of Altered Playing Cards (I was doing the 5 of Spades this time) but every time I sat at my craft desk to try and work, I just couldn't face it. I'd even signed up for the last Jigsaw Swap in the series, the Tiddy Jiggy Swap (this time doing the last of the set of 3 jigsaws we'd all bought last year, only this time they were just 6 inches across!) and altho I'd started to have thoughts about what I was going to do for the girls in my group, as well as coming up with a theme for my own piece, I soon decided that I'd bitten off more than I could chew and sadly decided to pull out of the swap sooner rather than later.

As for the Altered Playing Cards, I eventually managed to get them finished altho it was well past the deadline, so instead of sending them to the swap host to swap, I ended up posting them separately to the group, and they posted me theirs back. Sadly, we've not got a full 13 cards back as we were 2 numbers short anyway, and another 2 members cards weren't received at all. Still, it gives me the opportunity to make up some extra cards myself, gives me the chance to play with some Tim Holtz techniques and get creative! Photos will follow in a later blog post - I promise!

Having been given the all-clear to drive again in mid-January, amongst other places I've gone I've been going down to The Craft Barn at Lingfield. I first did a couple of smashing classes making unique backgrounds using Brilliance re-inkers, glossy card and clingfilm, also played with shrink plastic. Then a couple of weeks later I took a Cuttlebug masterclass and learned some new tricks to use with my 'bug. And today I was back there as they had their Spring Craft Fest with 7 ladies demo-ing various techniques - I love the look of Dreamweaver Stencil Paste - I'm sure I have a pot somewhere, I wonder if it's still good to go?
